"Franco Buzzi Memorial" Scholarship

In memory of Franco Buzzi, the company has developed an initiative that could reflect things that Franco loved: first of all the company, to which he dedicated his life; secondly, brilliant young people who could represent the company’s future nourishment; last, but not least, the USA.

This initiative wants to give young and determined people the opportunity of taking a leap forward in their professional life, an opportunity that could open them up to new possibilities and prepare them to new challenges. Franco himself, at the age of 22 - a forerunner, for those days - was awarded a grant by the prestigious Fulbright Student Program to study in the USA.

This is why Buzzi Unicem chose to award, every year, two scholarships that will provide with the unique opportunity to attend a Master in Business and Administration program at one of the following top universities in the US:

•    McCombs School of Business - University of Texas in Austin, TX;
•    Smeal College of Business - Penn State University, PA;
•    Kelley School of Business - Indiana University, Bloomington;
•    College of Business and Economics - Lehigh University, PA.

The opportunity stands for the sons and daughters of our employees (and former employees) from all of the group’s countries, as well as students who graduated from High School in Casale Monferrato. The selected programs are 2-year, full-time MBAs (except for Lehigh University that is a 1 year MBA), that Buzzi Unicem will fully fund, thus covering not only tuition and fees, but also standard ancillary costs such as travel, insurance and living costs.

Candidates must meet the requirements set by the Business School’s admissions criteria, regarding age, bachelor’s degree, work experience, English proficiency and analytical skills. The only way to submit an application for the scholarship is online, on the school’s website. Once the selection phase is ultimated, the students will attend the MBA program according to the university schedule.

Transparency and meritocracy are key to us, so Buzzi Unicem cannot interfere, in any way, with the valuation and selection process, that will be managed in full by each university.
As a company, we are proud to launch this project. We know for sure that this could be a turnaround opportunity for focused, committed people. And we like to think of Franco as a significant part of this growth process, too.

Buzzi Unicem invites anyone who is interested and meets the requirements to open the following PDF to find out more about the intiative.
