Elsa Fornero
Born in 1948. Director from 2008 to 2011 and since 2014. Professor of Political Economics with the Department of Social-Economic, Mathematical and Statistical Sciences (ESOMAS) at University of Turin (retired since November 2018). Scientific coordinator of CeRP Centre for Research on Pensions and Welfare Policies and Vice President of SHARE-ERIC (Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe). Member of the board of directors of Cintia (Inter-university Centre Netspar Italy), Honorary Senior Fellow of Collegio Carlo Alberto, research fellow at Netspar and Policy Fellow dell’Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) of Bonn. Member also of the centre for research of the International Network on Financial Education (INFE) of OCSE and of the Scientific Committee of Observatoire de l’Epargne Européenne of Paris. From 16 November 2011 to 28 April 2013 she was part of Mario Monti’s Government, as Welfare Minister with delegation to Equal Opportunities. She has written numerous publications on public and private pension systems, pension reforms, population ageing, household savings, retirement choices and life insurance.
